A few candid shots taken at the new library in Almere Stad. Although the library is already five years old the name is still “the new library” which made sense … five years ago :) I love the building and these shots do not do justice to it at all, mind you. Just some atmospheric stills.
The Family of Man (MoMA Exh. #569, January 24-May 8, 1955) was composed of 503 photographs grouped thematically around subjects pertinent to all cultures, such as love, children, and death. After its initial showing at The Museum of Modern Art in 1955, the exhibition toured the world for eight years, making stops in thirty-seven countries on six continents. MoMA.org
This book that my mother once bought long time ago is now lying on my table again today. We had to clear out my mothers appartment. She’s now living in a home for people with Alzheimers disease. I remember the book very well from my childhood and now and again I liked to look at the beautiful and strong black and white photographs. The images still feel very familiar and are of course very well known classics. 1955, already 60 years ago. The book is all yellow now and time has been eating its cover. The images however still remain strong and unforgettable. Although my mother can’t remember what she did or said 3 minutes ago I am sure she will still remember some of these powerfull images.
